September 28, 2009 "The Benefits of Landscaping with Native Trees and Shrubs"
Donna Katsuranis, an advanced master gardener who lives and gardens in Brookfield, CT, will take us on a tour of her own native garden and beyond, as we explore the remarkable diversity that exists in our forests, and can be adapted to our own back yards. Native plants are enjoying a new popularity - and rightly so. While many people think of native trees and shrubs as being just part of the background, they are remarkably suited to starring roles on the botanical stage. During the warm season, Donna coaches gardeners on how to bring their landscapes in line with their own vision of 'beautiful,' and year-round she lectures and guides walks on garden and nature-related subjects.
